Kappa Scholar

Perseverance in the Pursuit of Passion

My name is Sydney Mason and I’m a rising senior at Miami University, where I’m double majoring in marketing and professional writing. I’ve always had a love for books and try to find any time possible to read, which is a large part of why I hope to become an editor of fiction. It’s my goal to help facilitate the creation of stories so they help another young woman out there going through her own hardships.

Education is the most important thing in my life. When I committed to Miami University, my dad and I decided that he would cover half of my educational costs. But, on the first day of classes in my sophomore year, my father died suddenly. Despite being given the option to take a semester off to grieve, I decided to stay enrolled and keep working toward my dreams like I know he would have wanted.

I am grateful for the support of my sisters and to have received a need-based scholarship from the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. It made my return to school possible.

I am grateful for the support of my sisters and to have received a need-based scholarship from the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. It made my return to school possible.

Being a Kappa means everything to me. The fact that I get to be part of an organization that lifts up and supports its members is something I cherish. Again, I am grateful for the support from Kappa as I continue to set goals and follow my dreams. I truly couldn’t do this without you.
