How do I register?

Chapter registration takes place April 1–15. Alumna registration opens April 1.

Once you’ve registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email. This email will provide the next steps for confirming your air travel, if necessary.

How do I get to Leadership Academy?

First things first, you’ll need the address of the event site:
YMCA Camp Widjiwagan
3088 Smith Springs Road
Antioch, Tennessee 37013

Depending on how far you are from the camp, you may be road tripping or catching a flight. Find out if your chapter is on the driving or flying list here.

Plan to arrive no later than 4 p.m. CT so you have plenty of time to settle in before dinner at 6 p.m. CT. For more details, read on.

Road trip! If you’re driving, start arranging your transportation right away. Collegians, work with your chapter. If you’re having trouble arranging a car, be sure to reach out to us so we can find a good solution.

Keep receipts from gas stations and toll roads so they can be reimbursed. Pro tip: Toll booths may only take cash, so travel with a few bucks. Collegiate participants driving to and from Leadership Academy should charge any travel-related expenses, such as gas, to their chapter credit card or submit a request for reimbursement from their chapter. Per Kappa’s travel policy, mileage should be reimbursed by the chapter at 40 cents per mile for the use of a personal car.

Alumna participants may submit for mileage reimbursement. The Mileage Requisition Form will be available after the event.

Don’t forget the essentials: yummy snacks, a playlist, and excitement for the weekend ahead!

I’m flying to Leadership Academy. Tell me more.

If you’re flying, you’ll submit all of your travel-related information during the registration process. From there, our trusty travel partners, Direct Travel, will use that information to secure your flights.

Collegiate participants flying to and from Leadership Academy will be responsible for coordinating their transportation between their campus and the airport and are encouraged to rideshare. Please charge these expenses to your chapter credit card or submit a request for reimbursement from your chapter.

Alumnae are expected to cover the cost of parking or transportation between their home and the airport. Kappa’s travel policy does not include reimbursement for these costs.

A few things to keep in mind when it comes to travel:

  • Once your flight is booked, be sure to download your airline’s app.
  • Make sure to bring your REAL ID-compliant ID or passport to the airport.
  • Flying participants can request $25 for baggage reimbursement.

When you arrive in Nashville, you’ll head to the Ground Transportation Area on Level 1 of Terminal Garage 2. Kappa volunteers will be waiting to coordinate your rideshare to the event site.

How much does this cost?

Collegiate members attend Leadership Academy for free (thanks to a grant from the Kappa Foundation)! This includes registration, transportation, and event site fees.

Alumnae are asked to pay a nonrefundable $50 participation fee at registration.

The Fraternity reimburses mileage for members driving and covers up to $700 in flight costs for those flying. Only if travel expenses are greater than $700 would a participant or chapter be asked to pay.

What if I have to change my flight?

Flights are nonrefundable and nontransferable. This means the airline ticket cannot be used by anyone other than the individual named on the ticket. Any changes to the purchased airline ticket are at the expense of the participant/event volunteer.

Where am I going to sleep?

Camp Widjiwagan provides state-of-the-art cabins for overnight guests — the perfect home-away-from-home. And the ultimate camp vibes. You’ll have air conditioning, attached restrooms and private showers, and plenty of space to gather with your cabinmates. Think outdoor adventures (like zipline, canoeing, and exploring the campground) and leadership training by day and slumber party vibes at night. Use this time together to reflect on what you’ve learned each day, create lasting bonds with one another, and have fun.

What should I wear?

We recommend keeping it cute, comfortable and casual — nothing fancy! Because you’ll be moving around and in the great outdoors, pack layers that work for a range of temperatures. You’ll also want to throw in clothes for dry and wet weather. Plan to wear closed-toe shoes and bring an extra pair, if possible. Just follow the packing list we’ve put together and you’ll be well-prepared!

I still have questions …

We’re happy to chat and answer any other questions you may have! Feel free to shoot us an email and we’ll get back to you within three business days.
